power plant

Compliance Energy is proposing to build a 56 MW power plant at the former Similco Copper Mine Site located near Princeton British Columbia that would qualify as BC Clean Energy.  The power plant will be fueled by a combination of wood waste and Pine Beetle Kill Wood (“Bug Wood”) from the forestry industry.  Wood will be hauled to site and chipped up into minus 100 mm in size.  The wood will then be transferred into the combustion chamber where it is burnt producing heat to boil the water in the boiler. This heat in turn causes the turbine shaft to rotate at high speeds which then turns the generator that produces electricity. After passing through the turbines the water is cooled and the whole process is then ready to start over again.
